First-Time Male Spa in Bangkok — What to Expect, Tipping & Etiquette
Walking into a male-therapist spa for the first time can feel awkward — especially if you're a tourist who doesn't know the local etiquette. The truth is, it's much simpler than most travel blogs make it sound. Here's what actually happens on your first visit to Mandel Spa Bangkok, and a few quiet tips that make the experience smoother for everyone.
Before You Arrive: Booking & Choosing a Therapist
You can walk in, but most guests prefer to book ahead — either via our self-booking system, by LINE, or by calling 061-176-6042. Browse the therapist roster beforehand if you'd like; each profile shows height, specialty programs, languages spoken, and personality notes. If you don't know who to pick, just ask — the front desk genuinely enjoys matching guests to therapists.
What Happens During the Session
You'll be shown to a private room with a shower. After a quick rinse, you'll change into the disposable underwear we provide and lie face-down on the bed. The therapist will knock before entering and start with a brief check-in — your pressure preference (light / medium / strong), any sore spots, and whether you'd prefer silence or light conversation. Speak up at any point — Thai therapists are trained to adjust, not to power through.
Dress Code, Tipping & After the Massage
There is no dress code. Most guests arrive in whatever they were wearing — gym clothes, work clothes, swimwear — and shower at the spa. Mandel Spa has a set minimum tip of 200 THB per session — the same amount for every therapist and every service. If a therapist made your experience especially great, you're welcome to add more. Afterwards you'll be offered water or warm tea. If you liked your therapist, save their name (or grab a business card from reception) — Mandel Spa lets you request the same person on your next visit.
